An often requested feature has been developed for the Magic Trackpads.
Click with one finger (thumb) and drag with another finger (index finger).
While one finger holds the click another finger can be moved freely including lifting, so you can drag any distance!. This work the same way as on macOS and on Windows 10 with built-in "Precision Touchpads".
This feature has been added to version 3.0.5.0.
